Summer Camp at the Refugee Center

About
In summer 2022, the National Congress of Ukrainians of Moldova (NCUM) launched a Summer Camp program at its Refugee Center in Chișinău, aimed at supporting the integration and emotional well-being of Ukrainian refugee children. Implemented with the support of Polish Aid and the Solidarity Fund PL in Moldova, the initiative provided a safe, inclusive environment for children to learn, play, and connect with peers from both refugee and host communities.
The camp combined educational activities with recreational programming, offering language support, cultural workshops, and creative exercises that promoted social cohesion and emotional resilience. Children had access to art, music, sports, and group games designed to foster trust, communication, and a sense of stability after displacement.
The program specifically targeted children affected by the war in Ukraine and children from Moldovan families, helping to bridge communities through shared experiences and inclusive learning. Trained facilitators and educators ensured that the activities were both age-appropriate and responsive to the psychosocial needs of the participants.
This initiative served as a model for community-based integration support and contributed to NCUM’s broader effort to build solidarity, resilience, and inclusion among refugee and local populations during Moldova’s humanitarian response.
